Nutrition: Oklahoma

The Regional Food Bank of Oklahoma is a key partner within the Healthy Kids, Healthy Families® Nutrition focus area and our support will enhance two anti-hunger pilot programs in the 55 westernmost counties in the state. Through our support, the Regional Food Bank is expanding its Fresh Food Mobile Pantry and Nutrition Education programs.

The Fresh Food Mobile Pantry project provides nutritious fresh produce to families in high need areas, providing members of the community consistent access to healthy food. The Fresh Food Mobile Pantries currently provides food to 600 families each month. Our support will add five locations and serve an additional 1,100 families per month in central Oklahoma. It will also enable the organization to hire a full-time AmeriCorps member to provide nutrition education, cooking demonstrations and guidance to improve the nutritional quality of pantry boxes that are distributed to thousands of hungry Oklahomans.
